Taking A Moment To Be Thankful

Taking A Moment To Be Thankful

Sometimes it takes a big wake up call to make us stop and take a moment to see the positives in our lives.  In just a few weeks the Covid-19 pandemic managed to tip the world upside down and present us with challenges we’ve never faced before.   But in the midst of the new rules and restrictions comes an opportunity for us to reflect on just how many things there are to be thankful for.

We’re thankful that we’ve managed to bring all our clients back home.  No matter where they were overseas, we’ve been able to help them get on flights and home to their friends and family.  We’re also very thankful there have been no cases of Covid-19 onboard any of the expedition ships we work with.

We’re thankful for the technology that enables us to do this.  The booking systems, email and social media allows us to change plans quickly and communicate efficiently to our clients updates and changes of their bookings.

We’re thankful that for our clients’ understanding while we work through this process.  For some of you, your long-awaited holiday of a lifetime has just been disrupted and we understand how very disappointing that is.  We are thankful that amid that disappointment and frustration that you have treated us with respect and kindness while we work to amend your bookings as best we can as the situation unfolds.

We’re thankful for the support of the cruise lines and suppliers.  This pandemic has been absolutely devastating to their businesses with millions, if not billions, of dollars lost within a few weeks.  It has presented challenges for which there is no precedent and we are thankful to our suppliers for working endless hours to assist our clients whilst at the same time doing everything they can to help protect our businesses as well.

We’re thankful for our staff.  First and foremost we’re thankful that they are well.  But we’re also thankful for their commitment and dedication to our clients.  They have worked around the clock getting everyone home and making new arrangements during a very stressful and unsettling time.  We are very thankful to have such a team.

We’re thankful for the assistance offered by the Australian and New Zealand governments, which has enabled us to keep our team together.

We’re thankful to see the first signs of the “flattening of the curve” in Australia and gradual reduction of cases in New Zealand.  We’re also thankful to have so many clients that know that this will eventually pass and are looking forward to their cruise when this is all over.

We’re thankful to have the opportunity to learn from this – both from a professional and personal perspective.  We’re thankful to be forced to take a moment, to connect with our families and to evaluate our priorities.  We’re thankful for being reminded not to take our health for granted and to make the most of each and every opportunity that comes our way.
