No Time To Lose!
Although here in Australia and New Zealand it feels like the world is still pretty isolated and not a lot of travelling is happening, elsewhere in the world things are getting back to normal. Did you know there are currently 68 cruise lines with 269 cruise ships back in operation around the world? Royal Caribbean International, for example, has 14 ships back in action in Europe, Alaska, Bahamas, Singapore and The Caribbean.
The Australian government is soon to make announcements on when the borders will open to allow cruise ships back into our waters, with decisions from the New Zealand government some time after that. When the ships are given the green light, it’s going to be a life-line for those tourism businesses that have suffered significant difficulties over the last couple of years. It also means we’ll start to see the tourists back to our local hotspots and snapping up cabins on our local itineraries! Australia and New Zealand are super-appealing to those who have spent months in lockdowns overseas!
That means, if you’d like to get out and see your own back yard without the crowds, there’s no time to lose! Coral Expeditions have been cruising around Australia since October 2020, with a range of voyages to some very cool spots in Australia including Great Barrier Reef, Cape York, Tasmania and The Kimberley. PONANT is hoping to get the green light for early 2021, at which time their itineraries are likely to be mainly Australians and New Zealanders until the borders open to other countries. It is a truly unique time in travel history!
