A Little Light At The End of the Tunnel
What a ride 2020 is turning out to be! What are you looking forward to after this pandemic is over? Will you be straight back out to your favourite restaurant or are you looking forward to catching up with friends and family again? Will you be sticking close to home or will you relishing your freedom and setting off for new adventures? Do you have cruise and air credits to use after having your plans disrupted perhaps?
At Ultimate Cruising, we are looking forward to getting back to sending our clients on incredible holidays and hearing all your stories when you return. We love receiving phone calls from our clients telling us their highlights and how much they loved it.
As a business, Ultimate Cruising has survived disruptions such as Swine Flu, volcanic eruptions, SARS and more but nothing could have prepared us for 2020. However, we are resilient, well-resourced and will see this through.
One of the hardest things we’ve had to deal with is having our hands tied in regard to what we can offer our clients in terms of refunds/cruise credits. Unfortunately we don’t decide what can be refunded and what can’t – this directive comes from the airlines/cruiselines etc and we have to abide by their terms and conditions. This can be frustrating to us too. We strive to offer a personalised experience to our clients – you’re not just a number to us and we don’t operate a call centre. We hear your stories – that this is a trip you have dreamed about for years, or you’re taking your family away on holiday, or you’re celebrating a special birthday or retirement. We really get to know our clients so when something like this happens, we want to do the absolute very best we can for you.
It has been a tough couple of months for all of us. Never before have we seen this type of scenario and it’s been an interesting time watching the travel industry navigate through it. We are very thankful for our clients who have been understanding and patient while we work through this. We know how frustrating it is to have to postpone long-awaited trips. It hasn’t been easy on any of us.
It has really highlighted to us, however, the importance of being small enough to be able to offer such personalised service to our clients, yet big enough to have a voice with our suppliers. We have excellent relationships with our suppliers and this has allowed us to face this head on and get through to the other side.
Fortunately, there seems to be a small glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel with cases decreasing and optimism about returning to some kind of “normality” – in whatever form that takes following this pandemic. We’re starting to receive more enquiries again and requests for information and brochures in anticipation of travel resuming. It really shows what a hardy and resilient bunch of people Australians and New Zealanders are! Not a lot holds us back!
So as we move forward, we’d like to say thank you for sticking with us through this. We look forward to the time when we are once again waving you off on your next adventure and welcoming you home ready to hear your stories. In the meantime, keep safe and we look forward to exploring our incredible world with you again soon!
