If you’re looking for somewhere a little different to cruise to next year, take a look at this cruise to the Gambier Islands and Pitcairn Island with Aranui 5.

Then, you’ll head to an even more remote island, only accessible by ship.  Pitcairn Island is home to less than 50 permanent residents.  Think about that for a moment … all the residents of this island could fit on one standard sized bus!  It’s a unique lifestyle here with supplies arriving by ship every fortnight.  There are limited berths on the cargo ship that also transports people to the island so there are few tourists aside from those arriving by cruise ship.  People get around mostly by quad bike, there are no traffic lights and just one grocery store that is open  few days a week for a couple of hours at a time.

Although the Aranui 5 operates as a freighter-cruise ship combined in French Polynesia, there is no freight carried on this trip to Pitcairn Island.  The ship is solely dedicated to passengers, yet the same down-to-earth, home-away-from-home ambiance remains.  On board, you’ll find plenty of deck space to relax upon, a bar serving up your favourite drink, pool, lounges and a fantastic crew eager to make your holiday unforgettable.

The ship carries only 230 passengers with just 103 cabins so it does book up early, especially for voyages such as this.
