Cruising Close To Home

Cruising Close To Home

If you’re keen to cruise again but not too keen on going too far abroad, or not liking the idea of long plane trips and large airports, we’ve got some ideas for cruising close to home.

Fiji – There’s nothing quite like stepping off the plane into the warm humid air to the sound of ukuleles and the sight of the big Fijian smiles.  You can’t help but walk with a slower pace, relax the shoulders and soak up the relaxation!  Fiji’s islands are quite simply spectacular – hidden coves, white sand beaches, palm trees, colourful marine life and people who just exude hospitality, laughter and warmth.  Blue Lagoon Cruises offer 3 and 4 night cruises to the outer Mamanuca Islands and Yasawa Island groups – or join them together to make a sensational 7 night voyage.  We’ve got some awesome rates and deals so give us a call for more information.

Great Barrier Reef – There are several ways to see the incredible Great Barrier Reef – a fly-and-flop holiday to one of the islands, day trips from Cairns or, our favourite of course…cruising.  This is an amazing part of the world and waking up to the serene stillness where the sun is just rising and the waves are serenading you with a gentle blip, blip, blip is one of life’s greatest treats.  You can cruise the Great Barrier Reef on a voyage between the Far North and Sydney for example, or do it as a complete itinerary.  One of our top picks is Coral Expeditions’ voyages – where they go to parts of the reef that don’t feature on other itineraries.  Sunset cocktails on a deserted cay anyone?  Ask us for more information – we have Outer Barrier itineraries, designated mindfulness and well-being voyages and more.

Tasmania – If you haven’t been to Tassie yet, you don’t know what you’re missing!  This is such a cool destination that will charm the socks off you.  Sweeping bays, rugged cliff top walks, wineries, history, fantastic food and wine … it’s all here!  Exploring Tasmania by car is one thing – and there’s plenty to see and do for sure – but cruising the coastline will give you a whole new appreciation for this gorgeous island.  Our solution – do both!  Book your cruise then tack on a few days either end and go for a tiki-tour!   For those keen on hiking, we’ve also got special departures that will allow you to get your hiking boots on and go where the average tourist doesn’t.

The Kimberley – Of course, we can’t forget The Kimberley.  Australia’s answer to the Amazon, you’ll be blown away by the incredible vistas, the natural wonders and the unique bird and wildlife.  Everything seems to be big here – massive waterfalls, huge reefs, towering cliffs faces.  You’ve got to see it at least once in your life.  We’ve got a great package for The Kimberley with added extras so be sure to give us a call to check it out.

Western Australia – Dolphins, whales and masses and masses of birdlife!  Talk to us about cruises in Western Australia visiting the incredible Ningaloo Reef, The Abrolhos Islands and outer reaches of the Australian Territories.

New Zealand – Rugged, snow-capped mountains, turquoise lakes, plunging waterfalls, beautiful native forests, beaches, islands, culture, history …. New Zealand really does have it all!  We’re so excited because we have some sensational cruises around New Zealand in 2021 and beyond.  Cruises that take in the spectacular Milford, Dusky and Marlborough Sounds, cruises that call on the lesser-visited Stewart Island and some awesome cruises following the coastline from top to bottom (well nearly!).  Talk to us about the options – we’ve got some goodies here!

Subantarctic Islands – A little further away but well worth the effort!  Australia and New Zealand’s remote and wildly beautiful Subantarctic Islands are a once-in-a-lifetime destination.  Here, things are so pristine and so untouched, you’ll be blown away by how perfect it all is.  That’s why the wildlife and birdlife is so prolific here – it’s the ideal breeding ground for many species as there are no predators and nothing to disturb.  You simply have to see it to believe it!  It feels like a completely different world.

Of course, you could stay home and spend your holiday in your own backyard … but honestly, where’s the fun in that?  Give us a call and have a chat about the options, the new protocols on board and the special offers out!
